Background and Experience |
I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Minnesota. I am also the Program Director and a faculty member for the MA in Counseling and Psychological Services program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. I obtained my doctorate from the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Counseling Psychology program at the University of Kansas. I completed a year-long APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, Minnesota). Previously, I worked as a Staff Psychologist at Counseling and Health Services at Hamline University (St. Paul, Minnesota). At Hamline University I provided counseling for undergraduate, graduate, and law students, provided supervision to practicum counselors, and did consultation and training for the campus community. I served a similar role at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of St. Thomas. In addition, I have previously provided counseling services at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Kansas, The Center for Psychoeducational Services also at the University of Kansas, and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Levenworth, Kansas. Through these experiences, I have had the honor of working with a wide range of clientele including adults, older adolescents, veterans, people in crisis, the GLBTQIA+ community, and people from many different cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. I have experience working with a variety of issues/concerns such as anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, dissociation, grief, sexual assault, relational problems, body image concerns, identity development, and self-exploration, to name just a few. Currently, my areas of specialty include working with young adults, new parents, counselors/therapists in training, and with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, life transition issues, perinatal mental health, and NICU families. I am also interested in working with sleep concerns.
